NARI Milwaukee, Inc. was chartered on July 12, 1961, as the Home Improvement Council of Greater Milwaukee, a local chapter of the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC).  Fifteen firms in the home remodeling industry joined together to establish the local chapter. It was the fourth chapter in the nation to be chartered and remains the 3rd oldest.

In May 1982, the NHIC merged with the National Remodelers Association (NRA), an organization with its roots in the National Recovery Act of 1933, to form the organization known today as the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).  At the same time the local chapter changed its name to identify with the new NARI affiliation.  The chapter became the Milwaukee NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc.

NARI Milwaukee also has a charitable arm - The NARI Milwaukee Foundation, Inc. incorporated in 1993.  The Foundation strives to be the leading advocate in the remodeling and home improvement industry.  Through an extensive network of donors and volunteers, the Foundation invests in people to support and strengthen the industry.  The Foundation holds yearly fundraising events to raise funds and also accepts individual and corporate contributions to support their efforts.

For over 60 years, NARI Milwaukee has been very active in the local community and national organization. Seven-chapter members have held office of national president since 1999.  NARI Milwaukee is the largest chapter in NARI with nearly 600 company members and is respected nationally. Many programs that have been developed in Milwaukee have been adopted by national or other chapters across the country.

NARI Milwaukee’s leadership and goals of encouraging ethical conduct, sound business practices, and professionalism in the remodeling industry have led to the growth of the remodeling industry not only locally but nationwide.  NARI is a recognized and respected industry authority.  NARI Milwaukee is a forum for professional remodelers and an ally of the homeowner.  Members benefit from networking, education, advocacy, lead generation events, group advertising, and discount purchase programs from local and national suppliers/service providers. The public can get information on professional remodeling and home improvement, a list of NARI Milwaukee's most trusted and proven contractors and grievance assistance should the need arise. Information about these public resources and more can be found on this website or through NARI Milwaukee’s annual magazine, Renovate.

In 2018 the organization for many business and marketing reasons changed their name again to NARI Milwaukee, Inc.
