Affiliate Organization of the Year: United Press & Graphics
This honor is presented to a member company – not directly in the home improvement and remodeling industry – that has supported the local association in its business activities and has enhanced its operations. This year’s recipient has served as a donor and sponsor of association events, and the company has completed a wide assortment of printing projects for the chapter in quality and timely fashion.
Bill Bobrowitz Image Award: Tom Callen, Callen Construction, Inc.
The Bill Bobrowitz Image Award recognizes an individual or organization that has contributed to the enhancement of the industry’s image. This year’s winner has played an active role within the association, serving on the Board of Directors, on the Finance Committee, and on the Foundation Board. He has also been committed to promoting the industry through his support of association events, as well as encouraging his employees to pursue NARI certifications.
Distributor of the Year: Western Building Products
The Distributor of the Year is an honor that recognizes a member company that has demonstrated a strong commitment to NARI, to the remodeling industry, and to our community. This company has been an association member since 1984. The company is a product donor to the Milwaukee/NARI Foundation Rummage Sale, sponsor for the Golf Outing, a supplier to a number of members, and it hosts contractor events.
Mary Fox Hagner Lifetime Achievement Award: Tom Weiher, MCR, CKBR, Carmel Builders, Inc.
The Mary Fox-Hagner Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes the association’s executive director from 1993 – 2005. This award is bestowed on a person who has been in the remodeling industry for at least 20 years and a member of NARI for at least seven years. This year’s recipient has served on association committees, including serving as a committee chair, being active on the board, including a term as association president, and he recently completed a term as the co-chair of the associations Office Building Committee, helping lead the way on renovation that will start on the office next month.
Government Affairs Award: David Pekel, MCR, UDCP, CAPS, Pekel Construction & Remodeling, Inc.
The Government Affairs Award recognizes a member who has focused on the legislative interests of the professional remodeling industry. This individual led Milwaukee/NARI’s effort to have a positive influence on the updates to ATCP 110, participating in conference calls, attending meetings, and being the only remodeling contractor in Wisconsin to address the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection during the review sessions on the new legislation.
Marvin Johnson Meritorious Service Award: Dan Riedel, WiSC, Woller-Anger & Company, LLC
The Marvin Johnson Meritorious Service Award honors a member who has shown exceptional leadership, devotion, dedication, and accomplishment on NARI’s behalf. The 2013 recipient has played an important role in keeping the association moving forward, following the path of the strategic plan. His commitment to the industry while supporting the endeavors of association members was evident throughout his tenure as association president.
Media Outlet of the Year: WSSP-AM 1250
The Media Outlet of the Year recognizes a media organization that assists Milwaukee/NARI in its effort to provide home improvement and remodeling resources to consumers throughout the area while enhancing the association’s image and community presence. This year’s recipient approached Milwaukee/NARI in early 2013 with an opportunity to not only sponsor a weekly radio program, but to create the content for the broadcast, as well as give association members an opportunity to promote their own products and services.
Professionalism Award: Chris Egner, MCR, UDCP, Chris Egner Design-Build-Remodel/Four Seasons Sunrooms
The Professionalism Award salutes a member who has shown exceptional devotion, dedication, and accomplishment to the home improvement and remodeling industry through his efforts to promote NARI as a professional organization on the local level while at the same time serving as a tremendous resource for the community. A member for more than 20 years, this person has been a productive and an extremely involved participant, serving on the board of directors for the chapter, while playing a significant role in the Education and Certification Committee, including being one of the areas Master Certified Remodelers, and recently being involved in the planning for the association’s new website.
